THE TOUR BEGINS
Hey guys! Obviously it's been a while since I've updated....! Sorry!
Check out all the threads we've created in the forums regarding Ace Of Base's European tour which kicked off late last week. I'll be posting links to heaps of content real soon!
Ace Of Base 2006: New Song by Year's End?
This is insanity. No one saw this coming.
French Acer Benoit had the great fortune of speaking with the band's manager,
Lasse Karlsson. He indicated the band has been recording, and really has never stopped working (however slow they might be). This is the kind of news we're used to, especially since
DA CAPO (A4) in 2002 and the
NIGHT OF THE PROMS performances--HOWSOEVER: Benoit was fortunate enough to OMG hear a new track!!!!!111uno.
Sunset in Southern California
Is this the title? Benoit's first language isn't English, but this is what he gathered from the reggae-pop song featuring vocals by both Jenny and Linn.
If it indeed proves true (we're still waiting on official confirmation at www.aceofbase.com), this means a new album is a guarantee.
Whatever happened to those ridiculous hip hop dancers...?
It's been a couple of weeks since my last post, sorry (if any of you are actually reading, lol.....?). I'm in the middle of my fourth year at university (Senior Year y'all!), so it's mountains of readings. November is usually the busiest. I'm sure many of you can relate.

Anyway, I wanted to make a post about
DON'T TURN AROUND. In case you didn't know, it's a cover, and a fantastic pop music blog has done a feature on the song.
POPEATSPOP is a great blog--bookmark it now! It's full of great research and facts about what happens when a song gets covered in the incestuous pop song industry. To quote the 15 year old version of myself from the old Ace Of Base message board (
Teenage Heaven), "Record labels are WEIRD!". Hit songs can sometimes go through many incarnations in a variety of ways in a multitude of places around the world.
Check out POPEATSPOP's feature on DON'T TURN AROUND.This also coincides with a remix exchange on
THB, so if you're looking for some versions of
DON'T TURN AROUND you might not have,
check out this thread.
Here's a cool performance (done very rarely to the
ASWAD MIX of the track):
Vogue-ing in Vinyl
You could spray them with water and they wouldn't even feel it!
Looking at it now, you might want to hose them down, but I think this ultra-rare and very early performance of WAITING FOR MAGIC is totally endearing. Have a look:
Jonas gets NO CLOSE-UPS. hahaha.
I was struck by Jenny's look--it echoes (or is echoed by) her hair in many 1998 performances. The lines at the end are great:
"I see no shadows in my dreams, and it's something so romantic, I can't tell it's for real... You'll see..." And P.S. what's Fabio doing in the chair? RUDE!
Click here for the discussion. Many thanks to

What a golden day!
Hey guys! Here's my first proper entry. Since we're very in between releases right now (can you believe BEAUTIFUL MORNING was four years ago??), I'm going to be a bit all over the place with the content.
Let's start off with what's going on in the
boards...

Both the
SUGABABES and
GIRLS ALOUD have greatest hits compilations coming out this fall in the UK. Both lead singles are up-tempo and intensely catchy. Remind you of anybody?? A Swedish pop group perhaps?? It's no wonder many acers love both of these groups--check out those threads!

A personal favourite of mine,
ENIGMA, has a new album and single out in two weeks. Michael Cretu, the visionary behind the Enigma projects, has quoted Ace Of Base as an influence on his pop sensibilities (which were mostly featured in the fifth Enigma album,
Voyageur). The new release,
A Posteriori, is released in a couple of weeks and judging from the
30-second clips it's going to be quite special!
Check out the
JENNY resource section at
ACE ISLAND if you haven't yet. And does anyone know what happened to the
STORY MEANT TO LAST archive...?? I wanted to link to it but it seems as though it has gone offline!
Now, I know many of you are video game geeks like me. I play tonnes of
World of Warcraft and I just bought a Nintendo DS Lite, but what I'm quite excited about is the new Nintendo Wii, which has just been announced as launching on NOVEMBER 19. I suggest checking out some of
Kotaku's coverage of the press conference to catch up, if you like that sort of thing.
I'll be posting again soon!
Hallo everyone!

Good day, visitor!
I'm assuming you're an acer. Do you know what an "acer" is? If not, you've found a curious and amazing little corner of the Internet--with a very colourful history!
My name's James, but you can find me on
The Hallo Boards as
acer4ever. I've been a fan of Swedish pop group
Ace Of Base for a very long time--more than half of my life!
Almost just as long ago I made a little fansite called
The Ace Of Base Experience, which I brought together with my friend Jared's page (titled quite aptly,
Jared's Ace Of Base Page). The two pages became a resource fansite called
PERFECT WORLD, and it was indeed a perfect little world for many years!
Since the beginning, nearly a decade ago (!), we've gone through many incarnations, and now the focus of the site is our commmunity forum: the aforementioned and nearly infamous
HALLO BOARDS, or "THB", as acers call it. We were the first Ace Of Base forum of its kind, and we intend to keep it running for as long as we can!
Since we're no longer young kids muckin' around on the internet, neither Jared nor I have the free time to run a resource site, so for now
AceOfBase.org will focus on THB and this new blog written by me: James!
I have to work out a lot of glitches, but in time this page will look a lot better. Keep coming back because I have a lot of things to share, Ace-related and not! In my time in Acerdom, I've found that a lot of us have a great sense of humour and appreciation for similar things, so maybe you'll find something useful in this new, Ace Of Base blog.
Check back soon!
JAMES
